Pau, the capital of Béarn, offers landscapes combining history and green spaces. Cycling with your family is a great way to discover the city at your own pace without having to worry about parking.
Bike rental in Pau
In response to growing demand, the city of Pau has created its own bike rental service called IDECycle. There are two hundred bikes at 19 stations and they are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Directly from the castle, from the SNCF station or from Place Georges Clémenceau, the city centre is easy to get to with IDECycle.
In terms of independent stores, Mobiletric, near Les Halles, offers bike rentals, including electric bikes. Opposite the church of Notre-Dame, cyclists can head to Vélostation, which also has racing bikes and mountain bikes for rent.
Discover Pau by bike
Spend the weekend cycling the streets of Pau and take advantage of the “Boulevard en promenade” initiative. On the first Sunday of every month, from 14:00 to 18:00, the entire length of the famous Boulevard des Pyrénées is reserved for “soft” modes of transport. To pedal in peace, parents and children can also take the greenway along the banks of the River Gave. From the castle park, head towards the Pont d’Espagne and discover its whitewater before continuing westward to the Billère-Jurançon footbridge south of the golf course. Explore a bit further by continuing to the solidarity garden before turning around and heading towards Mazères-Lezons, passing through the Marsan gardens. This 4-mile stretch has been recently done up, allowing you to cycle along the Gave de Pau while enjoying the splendours of the region.
The aparthotel, ideal accommodation for a family of cyclists
During your family weekend, take advantage of the services of an aparthotel to feel right at home in Pau, without the constraints of everyday life. By choosing an aparthotel, you get the services of a hotel (gym, Internet, secure parking, etc.) but keep your independence, for example with the equipped kitchen. Aparthotels are also located near places of interest or business centres, ensuring you are always close to the city’s main attractions and amenities.
All Suites Appart Hotel Pau is no exception and is ideally located 10 minutes from the city centre and close to the Zenith, the racecourse and the Palais des Sports. You can get to the Pyrenees and enjoy its fabulous landscapes in around an hour. If you’re feeling sporty, you can test yourself on the Col d’Aubisque (5,606 feet altitude) or the Col du Pourtalet (5,886 feet altitude). After discovering the region, enjoy the sports facilities offered by your aparthotel. If you like to work out, the equipped gym awaits. To relax after a busy day of activities or a hard session, you get privileged access to the Calicéo wellness centre.
