Le Havre campus: our accommodation and services
The Le Havre campus at a glance
A local university, the Le Havre Normandie campus opened in 1984 and occupies a prime location in the heart of the city.
Le Havre Normandie University now has nearly 8,000 students. It comprises three training and research units – International Affairs, Arts & Humanities and Science & Technology – an Institute of Technology (IUT) and a school of engineering and the Higher Institute of Logistics Studies (ISEL).
Location and getting there
Life at Le Havre Normandie University tends to revolve around the city centre, just a stone’s throw from the railway station and bus terminal. The Le Havre campus is only a 7-minute walk from the train station and there is a tram stop (“Université”, lines A and B) right next door. These two tram lines serve the city centre and Le Havre beach. An ideal location to study and enjoy the city!
Campus history and development
Founded in 1984 from branches of the University of Rouen, Le Havre Normandie University (ULH) has several departments. Although the ULH actually started out in 1967 with an electrical engineering department in Caucriauville, other departments – International Affairs, the IUT and the UER of science and technology – were also created later, in 1972. It was in the August that Le Havre Normandie University was created administratively. 1994 and 1998 saw the birth of the Institut Supérieur d’Études Logistiques (ISEL) and the Arts and Humanities UFR.
