These funds are reserved for a period determined by your bank, often from 7 to 14 days. If you cancel your booking or pay by another means, the pre-authorisation expires and the funds become available again. When you check out, the actual costs are charged and the pre-authorisation is either waived or converted into a payment depending on the amount due. This ensures that the necessary funds will be available without immediate withdrawal.
